downloaded it from alt.binaries.multimedia somewhere episode 4 and have continued watching ever since. bsod myself, started around '87 or so and kept dialing up until the very end. love the show , very interesting. although sometimes its a bit over my head and i wish you'd discuss a bit more of why/what you do with the things you are building and whatnot - we aren't all up at your level... (im talking about Foxx's segments here - of which i enjoy the most). please keep it up Very often I need to tell myself "People dont know what I know". I think im a bright bulb, but I dont think I know it all. I think of myself as quite a simpleton, because there is so much I dont know. But thats why we started BSoD and made it open source, so other people can chime in and fill in the gaps. Too many tech shows assume you know the core concepts, and people on IRC and Forums will flame you for asking "simple" questions. I try to break down my segments to the core concepts, but in a practical way. Other shows do segments on tech stuff thats out of our league, and in the end you ask "Why should I even try this? Whats the point?" but you cant find a reason. I really try to keep my segments right to the point, explain some concepts, show some design, and sink your claws right into something practical and useful... but leave more for next month. A lot of the shit I have been working on is all part of in-field hacking, scanning, probing, or general mischief. Like mustang said, pop in and ask questions. Its why we are all here. Just dont assume we have an answer. We are all just in it for the fun of learning. If you noticed by now my main focus is hardware with a general grasp of software, enough to fuel the hardware I make. We still have a long way to go before I am out of segment ideas!! ... but its your call on what makes it on the show. People today just try to hang on and manage because they dont want to start a flame war by asking a question. As long as you show interest in learning its cool by us. Sometimes we get people that just waste our time because they assume we will do all the thinking for them, so when we converse with them they put in little to no effort to make things move forward. As with reaper, he noticed i knew a lot about physical stuff, and by the tech talk i was also into more than just combat, parkour, gymnastics and such. He came aboard and almost shit his pants when he realized how broad my knowledge is. Its times like that I realize I do know a lot, and there are people that want to learn about it, and its refreshing to see young and old minds get together and share information with each other without discrimination or egotistical issues. An honest question deserves a noble answer. When I train with reaper we dont just get into the anatomy of our training, but also the psychology, and physics of what is going on. Its pretty cool to see such a young person absorbing so much at once and using it without it going to his head. When we first met he suffered from psychological barriers that kept him from doing some stuff, mainly balance beam work when 10+ feet off the ground. I cant say that I blame him! The mind goes all out of whack and he would get vertigo, but with training I think hes doing a great job adjusting his focus to get over it. There is more to the world than what only your eyes can see, and your ears can hear, the real question is, are you open minded and curious enough to look? |

You know I can't remember where I originally found BSOD.
Saw 4 or so episodes, watched em, was very impressed, found the sight and actually thought maybe they made 4 (or however many it was) and called it a day. Didn't think anything of it after that, was pretty disappointed but hey. Time went by and I happened to be installing OSX on a pc, having the hard time of salvaging shortcuts and other mess from the old windows install. Saw how many links I had and decided to filter through them. One of them was for bsodtv... checked it out only to discover there was a mass of updates, including an episode 1.1 that I'd not seen b4. Imo, there aren't enough featured sites like this. I mean I know u guys are kinda "briefly under the radar and not necessarily wholly mainstream viewing material", but anything as simple as the old computer programs u'd possibly have seen back in the 80s/90s just don't exist - and there's a mass market out there for them. Society dictates that any viable mainstream show has to have some dizzy chick presenting and a backbone of promoting legitimately safe material, sponsored by nVidia or something. There is no way in the world any shows are going to show u how u can slice the antenna off ur router, add a socket in it's place, and diy a better one. Which is what enthusiasts I hang around would like to see. Bah, I'm waffling. Dunno where - glad I found em - great stuff. -------------------- IF SOMETHING IS YOURS BY RIGHT, THEN FIGHT FOR IT.. OR SHUT UP !

Yah, we fight to stay out of the mainstream, because a lot of it is about looking and sounding like a hardcore haxxor, and we just dont give a shit. We all have the same concept as you, we dont care about 'legal' issues. As long as you dont put the the right tools in the wrong hands, and look like a bad-ass doing script kiddie bullshit to cause general havoc and issues for the ignorant people, then its all good. Modding an xbox legal? Fucked if i care, I want to run linux and xbox media center. Cracking WEP? Well, i know that will be used to poke peoples network to steal their personal files, so thats one topic we refuse to cover.

I found BSoD on youtube around the first week of July 2007 (I think it was just a few days before or after episode 13 released). I was interested in Foxx's telecommunications segment's and after watching my first episode (episode 4) I loved the attitude of the show so that night i downloaded all the episodes that had been released and stayed up till about 4am watching them.

Searching for details on building antennas for work and BSoD popped up. Had a look around and found the vids. Grabbed 'em all and have been hooked ever since. Good stuff.
