Rules
No blatent criminal acts. If something could be illegal in another state or country, please state it Have acceptable Audio and Video quality. Dont record from your cell phone camera. Subtitles are acceptable. Please speak english. If you can not, ask someone to do a voiceover for you. Dont be an asshole. IPTV is not a new way to insult people, places, or services. You may disagree with the quality, content, or motives of something/someone, but be respectfull about it. Coarse language is acceptable in moderation. Dont over abuse four letter words. Anything more than what Foxx does is pretty much overboard. Please do not discuss or reveal personal information of anyone without their permission. No lude or disgusting behavior. No "call outs" or "shout outs" to your friends and family. No substance (ab)use, drugs or alchohol, perscribed or recreation. We do not endorse any kind of substabnce use on the show, it has nothing to do with tech or sharing information. Dont be a show-off. Dont boast about said skillz or abilities. Edit your videos how YOU want them to be presented on the show. Segments may be edited for time and content. Any changes will be approved by the original author. Video Format Videos need to be 640*480 or 800*600 MPEG-4 Codec and MP3 audio would be fine. The higher the quality the better. WMV works just as well. The show is native 640*480 to keep it compatable with all typs of screens. If you do a lot of screencaptures and need the text to be readable, try 640*480. Hit the forums or IRC to find out tips and tricks to make this possible even with a higher screen resoloution. Suggestions Before making a segment make sure what you want to cover will interest the people. Make sure that you have a point. Your segment should leave the person inspired and wanting to persue what you just explained. Remember that not everone has the same resources as you. A perfect example is; I can do at least 3 segments on usefull things you can do with a Gameboy Color. The chances of anyone getting a GB Flash Card and programmer, or building one is slim to none, if not completely impossible. Since only I can do it, there is no point in covering it, showing the people all this great stuff they can never do. Try to keep on point. Its easy to wander off topic and get into things that dont need to be explained. Dont make segments too long and drawn out. People loose interest if you piece together a segment wrong, or you get too boring. Hop on IRC and prerelease your segment in #BSoD_Contrib We can all help you set up some way of sending the file to the people in channel. We do this as a "quality control". Since this is a show for the people, by the people, we need to know what the people think and how they feel. If you do a really boring crappy segment, dont be mad that it didnt get aired cause noone cared about it. Hop on IRC while you can and make it something they want to see by asking them what they want to see! If you have any problems recording, editing, whatever, hop on IRC or the forums. This is a show based off of people helping people. Feel free to ask questions, scour the froums, and make mistakes. Thats all part of the learning process, and thats what BSoD is all about. |
